A meeting of the EU Platform of Diversity Charters in Brussels

The Bulgarian Diversity Charter participated in the meeting of the European Platform of Diversity Charters, co-organized by the European Commission and the Belgian Diversity Charter. Held on October 22–23 in Brussels, the event convened representatives from 27 Charters across various European countries, alongside experts from both the public and private sectors.

Opening Event – 22 October

The opening session was held at the European Commission’s Agriculture and Rural Development building. The first day focused on discussions concerning the platform’s future development plans, vision, and new objectives. A key milestone highlighted during the meeting was the commitment of all EU Member States to diversity through the establishment of their respective charters. Participants also exchanged good practices, including the NICE project, a collaborative multi-country initiative aimed at promoting inclusive and neutral communication.

The second day of the meeting, hosted at DG Justice and Consumers, featured presentations on topics including the role of businesses in promoting diversity, the use of corporate social responsibility requirements as a means to foster better working environments, and strategies for integrating minority groups. Discussions underscored the importance of “double mentality” when making decisions, particularly regarding their potential impact on both the environment and human rights. This emphasized the notion that diversity is a multifaceted issue requiring the engagement of all stakeholders for effective implementation.
