An EU-wide study published in 2025 shows how businesses and organisations can benefit from the implementation of institutional policies and practices for promoting diversity and inclusion (D&I) at the workplace.

The study advances four inter-related business cases for prioritising D&I approaches which include (1) improving overall performance; (2) talent attraction and retention; (3) enhanced legitimacy and customer understanding; and (4) promoting social justice.
National Diversity Charters networks play an impactful role in supporting stakeholders in private and public sectors in the implementation of D&I policies and practices by offering a range of services such as training, self-assessment tools, legal advice, guidance, thematic events, collaboration opportunities, and surveys.
The study indicates that signing a national Diversity Charter drives transformative changes within organisations, with many signatories reporting significant progress in developing and implementing D&I initiatives. Among the most notable changes is the adoption of structured monitoring systems, with two-thirds of organisations implementing new tools or enhancing existing ones to track their progress.
