An Institutional Culture of Diversity and Inclusion at the EU Level

The Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2030 seeks to integrate an intersectional approach with the organisational goals and objectives of the General Secretariat of the Council (GSC) through a combination of targeted mid-term and long-term actions. The GSC is the body assisting the European Council and the Council of the EU. The Strategy acknowledges the impact of digital transformation on workplace culture, particularly as regards the increasing use of artificial intelligence systems.

Mid-term targeted actions focus on strengthening gender equality, enhancing the inclusion of vulnerable groups including persons with disabilities, LGBTI+ people, ethnic minorities, and people with socio-economic disadvantage, and promoting age diversity.

Long-term targeted actions focus on mainstreaming diversity in recruitment policies; optimising working conditions to meet the needs of a diverse workforce; and fostering a culture of respect through continuous training on anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, and inclusive communication.
