Beyond Age: The Power of Talent

Age is not a barrier, but an asset: the forum “Beyond Age: The Power of Talent” shines a new spotlight on people aged 50+ in Bulgaria

Today, experience is one of the most underrated competitive advantages. It is time to recognize it as a resource for the future of business and society. This was the consensus among participants at the second edition of the Beyond Age: The Power of Talent forum.

The topic of “silver capital” is increasingly taking center stage in the conversation about the future of work in Bulgaria. This was the main conclusion from the Second Career Forum “Beyond Age: The Power of Talent,” organized by Young Talents 50+ in partnership with the Employment Agency, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, Invest Sofia, and the Sofia Development Association, which brought together leading representatives from institutions, the business community, and the expert community.

The program covered a wide range of topics – from public policies to real-world business practices.

Forum participants were unanimous: age is not a limitation on professional development, but a strategic advantage that remains underutilized.

The data show a clear trend – a significant portion of new hires in Bulgaria are over 50 years old, and the employment rate among those aged 55–64 is among the highest. This not only confirms the activity of this group but also raises the question of more targeted integration of their experience into the economy.

“People aged 50+ bring not just experience, but the ability to exercise judgment, resilience, and maturity in decision-making. These are qualities that business cannot afford to overlook,” and this was emphasized during the discussions.

The forum highlighted a key shift in the understanding of career development – from a linear perspective to a dynamic model in which a professional path can include new roles, reskilling, and entrepreneurship, regardless of age.
