Diversity at Work Awards 2024

On March 24th, the Annual Responsible Business Awards, organized for the 22nd consecutive year by the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum (BBLF), took place, bringing together companies and organizations committed to corporate excellence in social investment and sustainability. This year’s ceremony featured a dedicated category, “Diversity at Work”, which received 11 nominations. This category, introduced four years ago by the Diversity Charter in Bulgaria, aims to recognize exemplary practices in fostering diverse teams, promoting equal opportunities, and cultivating inclusive workplaces.

During the ceremony, the initiatives submitted by participating companies – each dedicated to advancing workplace diversity – were presented, showcasing inspiring and impactful efforts. Among them, three companies were distinguished for their innovation and demonstrated results in fostering inclusivity.

The winner of the Diversity at Work 2024 Award was KBC Global Services N.V. – Branch Bulgaria for its “CapABLE” initiative, which facilitated the integration of individuals with disabilities into the company’s workforce through the use of eye-controlled software. As a direct outcome of the initiative, one employee has successfully joined KBC’s working environment.

Second place was awarded to DXC Technology for its “DXC Dandelion” initiative, designed to provide neurodiverse individuals with opportunities for careers in the IT sector. The first cohort of interns has recently completed their internship at the company.

Third place was awarded to Inditex Bulgaria for its “Silence Speaks” initiative, which educated employees in sign language to enhance communication and integration of colleagues with hearing impairments. As a result, the company has successfully integrated 1% of its employees with hearing impairments into its workforce.

We commend all participating companies for their outstanding and inspiring initiatives, reaffirming their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Their efforts highlight the significance of fostering an inclusive work environment that contributes to employees’ well-being. We encourage these organizations to continue their dedication to responsible business practices and to the appreciation of human talent.
