Join the Academy for Diversity, Inclusion and Equity

From 17 January to 11 April 2025, the third edition of the Academy for Diversity, Inclusion and Equity will take place – the only certification program in the country on these topics. The Academy is organised by the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria (CWBB) and the Faculty of Economics of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, with the support of Lidl Bulgaria. The three organisations behind the Academy are signatories of the Bulgarian Diversity Charter!

The Academy’s seven modules cover 56 learning hours, addressing topics such as belonging, the benefits of diversity and inclusion, overcoming unconscious bias, inclusive communication and inclusive leadership, legal aspects of diversity, and more. Speakers at the Academy again this year include experts with extensive experience and knowledge in these areas such as Dr. Eng. Boriana Manolova, Dr. Shirley Knowles, Assoc. Dr. Ivan Angelov, Kamelia Slaveykova and others. The full programme of the Academy can be found here.

The enrollment for participation in the Academy has already started and all those who successfully complete it will receive a certificate from the Faculty of Economics of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” as well as the opportunity to become associate members of the CWBB or members of the Alumni Club of the organisation.

Lidl Bulgaria provides 5 full scholarships for this edition of the Academy. Candidates for the scholarships should send a short cover letter to weiterbildung@lidl.bg by 1 December 2024 , describing:

  1.  their motivation to become part of the programme and how they would pass on the knowledge they have gained;
  2. contact details;
  3. a link to their LinkedIn profile.

The winners will be determined by a jury composed of Lidl Bulgaria employees and professionals in the field. The names of the scholarship winners will be announced on 16 December 2024 on jobs.lidl.bg and womeninbusiness.bg

A total of 43 participants completed the first two editions of the Academy for Diversity, Inclusion and Equity. The satisfaction rate of the 2024 participants is over 95% and you can see the emotions of their accomplishment in the video.

“Although I came into the second edition of the Academy with the mindset that I was familiar with the topic, I quickly realized that I still had a lot to learn – from nuances in communication to answers to fundamental questions and an up-to-date overview of the topic globally and the efforts we are making locally and how they fit with the cultural specificities in Bulgaria. I would recommend everyone to apply for the third edition, because the speakers and the discussions with them broaden the worldview and support the personal growth of each participant.”
