Steps to Equality – a self-assessment questionnaire designed to help your organisation identify where it stands on the path to gender equality.
The Bulgarian Foundation for Business and Human Rights (BFBHR) has launched the project ‘The Office as a Space for Strength and Inspiration’. The initiative is implemented within the framework of the Bulgarian Fund for Women’s ‘Strong’ programme and is funded by the European Union. Through this project, BFBHR reviewed the policies of 20 leading companies in Bulgaria, assessing their commitments to diversity, gender equality, and efforts to prevent gender-based violence.
What does the questionnaire include?
The questionnaire features practical questions based on the internationally recognised Gender Benchmark methodology by the World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA).
It covers key areas such as: Senior management commitment, Strategic objectives, Safe and inclusive work environment, Grievance mechanisms, Monitoring and evaluation
The questionnaire takes just 10–15 minutes to complete and provides a clear snapshot of your organisation’s current position on gender equality. Results are for internal use only and will not be shared publicly.

What happens after the self-assessment? – Companies that complete the questionnaire will have the opportunity to participate in our upcoming free training sessions, subject to availability. These sessions are designed to help organisations build internal capacity, implement best practices, and foster a more inclusive organisational culture.
