
The European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity Award recognises the efforts of EU cities, towns and regions in promoting inclusion and creating societies free of discrimination. It is open to all local authorities in the EU that are dedicated to building fairer societies by advancing diversity and inclusion in terms of:
- gender;
- racial or ethnic origin;
- religion or belief;
- disability;
- age; and
- sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics.
Over the past three editions, more than 220 local authorities have taken the opportunity to demonstrate their outstanding efforts and commitment to promote equality, diversity and inclusion. The finalists of the Award have shared their best practices and experiences from the application process with the objective to motivate more cities, towns and regions to prioritise diversity and inclusion in their policies and initiatives.
