The Bulgarian Foundation for Business and Human Rights has launched “The Office as a Space for Strength and Empowerment“, an initiative aimed at advancing diversity, gender equality, and the prevention of gender-based violence in the workplace. The project is implemented under the “Force” programme of the Bulgarian Fund for Women and is funded by the European Union.
As part of the initiative, the Foundation carried out an assessment of the policies and practices of 20 companies in Bulgaria, focusing on their approaches to diversity, gender equality, and preventing gender-based violence. The analysis was conducted by experienced gender equality experts who have completed specialised training in applying the Gender Benchmark methodology developed by the World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA).
Building on the findings of the assessment, a self-assessment questionnaire was developed to help organisations evaluate their own policies and practices. The questionnaire is designed to support companies in identifying existing strengths, recognising areas for improvement, and laying the groundwork for stronger internal policies and targeted employee training.
Organisations that complete the self-assessment may be invited to participate in a series of free training sessions organised as part of the project. The training will focus on practical approaches to advancing gender equality, preventing gender-based violence, creating safer workplaces, and fostering more inclusive organisational cultures through the exchange of knowledge and best practices.
The questionnaire is based on two key sections of the Gender Benchmark methodology and serves as a practical starting point for companies seeking to strengthen their commitment to responsible and inclusive business practices.
Organisations and individuals interested in learning more about the upcoming training opportunities on diversity, gender equality, and the prevention of gender-based violence are encouraged to contact the Foundation’s team. Participation in the programme is free of charge and open to all interested participants.
The self-assessment questionnaire is available here.
