We are excited to announce the winners of the third edition of the European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity Award. The 7 winning towns, cities and regions, stand out in a strong field of shortlisted candidates for their contribution to a more equal and inclusive Europe. They have demonstrated creativity and commitment in implementing a breadth of initiatives to advance outcomes of equal inclusion for people across the diversity of age, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, sex, disability, and LGBTIQ, and underpinning these with effective strategies, institutional structures and organisational systems.
The winners were announced at the Award ceremony, hosted by Commissioner for Equality Helena Dalli, on April 25 in Brussels. The winning localities come from five European countries: Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.
The award recognises gold, silver, and bronze winners across three categories: local authorities with less than 50,000 inhabitants, local authorities with more than 50,000 inhabitants, and this year’s specific category – local authorities enabling safe towns, cities and regions for women in all their diversity, by addressing violence against women.
The Bulgarian Diversity Charter had the honour and pleasure to attend the event.
